How to stay fit at home

Time is getting tougher by each passing day. Even if the phase of lockdown has ceased, we have been forced to stay inside our houses. And the irony is we are not doing it because of some external pressure, but for the sake of avoiding the infection. By taking proper precautions, we are succeeding in preventing contact with the coronavirus, but wait, we are paying a huge cost for it. Physical confinement is taking a toll on our physical and mental health. Most of you may have already noticed that you are beginning to put on too much weight, feeling lethargic and frustrated/stressed all day long. We all need to learn to stay fit at home.

Then what can you do to alleviate your suffering?

Be physically active inside your home. Staying active all day long improves your muscle mass, bone density, and keeps your immune system working effectively. Besides coronavirus, other infections are lurking around inside our home, and there’s no way we can get rid of them. But we can develop our immune system and make it strong enough to fight with all the infections.

How to stay physically active inside the home?

Stay Fit at Home
  • After waking up, take a brisk walk in or around your house, and you will feel instantly recharged. Take in the morning oxygen and perform your regular exercise.
  • While working, take a few stretching breaks for a minimum of 2-5 minutes after every hour.
  • Take a walk after every meal.
  • Limit your number of meals to five or as recommended by a doctor. Avoid overeating.
  • Eat low cholesterol food, and try to make every meal fiber-rich.

While discussing fitness, we often emphasize physical fitness and completely overlook the importance of mental fitness. Mental fitness is actually a thing and is as important as physical fitness.

How to Stay fit at home
Let’s dive in and discover the ways to take care of our mental health.

Staying physically active improves the production of the feel-good hormone. It positively affects our state of mind, but in some cases, it is not enough—for example, a person experiencing chronic stress. In such cases, the person needs to talk to someone. Connect with your friends via facetime and speak your thoughts out loud. A true friend would listen to even your silliest though without judging you. If you don’t have any such person in your life, you can get in touch with online counselors, who are super active these days with no or minimal charge for the consultation.

Hope we all take up these as habits and learn to stay fit at home.
