I bought this copy on the recommendation of a friend and was wondering what I would find inside. Carrie Rubin has also written another Seneca Scourge which I had read and really enjoyed it.
Thrillers have always kept me engrossed and because it was related to food, Obesity and the relationship with food, I was particularly interested in finding out how it goes. The story is told from the character’s point of view which does not make it boring at any point in time. Carrie’s command over the language is awesome and her narrative style attracts one to read. I felt I was watching it as a mini series rather than reading it. Jeremy is my favorite character here and I am sure it will be for all who read it. His attempts in losing weight and taming his appetite appear so real and we can relate with Jeremy as a person we know somewhere around us in our neighborhood.
Darwin is the gray shade who is a serial killer obsessed with the idea of cleaning up the planet by murdering overweight people in order to get rid of obesity. The author has planted little clues which keep the readers involved with goosebumps coming up time to time getting those clues and guessing who it could be.
An almost flawlessly plotted Novel I must say revolving around the fast food Industry, Obesity, struggle to fight it off and a man with a mission to wipe of the Obesity in the world. Though we don’t patronize him, we can definitely understand his character and know that he is not a complete psychopath. The story definitely has a message, but it is given in such a subtle fashion that it nowhere becomes an obstacle in the story nor does it overpower the plot. A must read if one loves Thrillers with a message.
