About the author :
Anurag Shourie has Degrees in Medicine and management, but is a poet at heart. A writer in making, he is currently employed with a Multinational Clinical research organization. He is an anesthesiologist by profession who loves Ruskin Bond Novels.
Half a Shadow – Thrilling Blurb:
“Three deaths – a beautiful bride, a young businessman, and a famous doctor. Crime arises from its protracted slumber in Udaipur, and the City of Lakes finally sheds its veil of tranquility. Trapped in the heart of the mayhem, is Dr. Aditya Deshmukh, a quintessential loser. In order to redeem himself and wrench his soul free of the guilt of a ‘murder most foul,’ he has to find the missing links between Abraham and Sarasvati, Abimanyu and Sumitra, Yasser Arafat and Vladimir Putin. The body count continues to rise as Aditya gropes in the darkness. Hunted by an enemy he can’t see, devoured by a love he can’t consummate, and guided by a friend he can’t trust, he is caught up in a race against time where he can’t afford to be the runner-up”
Half a Shadow – Plot:
Series of deaths happen across Udaipur and subsequently shifts to Aditya- the protagonist and the lead of this book. Aditya is working at J.J Memorial Hospital as an anesthesiologist. An alcoholic with a troublesome past personal life, he has an Uncle Vijay Raj, who is a cop and also his guardian. How these two team up to solve the mystery and the clouds of suspense surrounding them forms the plot of this interesting story.
Half a Shadow – Review:
The book will be a sure shot pick for the Bollywood movie with a few changes of course. The thought of a pure medical thriller is always exciting rather than a Mytho-Medical one where it becomes difficult to amalgamate the two. Anurag too has to struggle to make them gel together, which he is not 100% successful at. Siddharth Malhotra as a young Aditya and Mukesh Rishi as the cop will be a perfect match if a Bollywood flick is made based on this one. The author has made an honest attempt in bringing the ongoing malpractices and corruption in the medical field in front of his readers. The Language is simple English without too many jargons to impress or confuse the reader, so it is liked by one and all. The overall book is a must read.
