Only RailYatri for me..

Indian Bloggers

I generally travel by flights and avoid Rail or road travel as much as possible. The simple reason is I had heard the pain and efforts which are needed when you do such travels, especially if it is a Rail/Train travel. Air booking and travel is much easier for me and I have been doing that for the last 15 years religiously.

As luck would have had it, I had a meeting and Nashik and flew from Delhi to Nashik for the same. The meeting got postponed and I had to wait there for a day. The next day I finished my meeting only to be informed by my team that I would have to travel by Train in order to reach Mumbai. The feeling left me cold and I was worried imagining what I would have to undergo. I asked my team members and they confirmed that the journey was short and that I would have no trouble at all. One of my subordinates requested me to download an App which would help me reach Panvel with ease. I downloaded it purely on request of him and as I was waiting for the Train, I decided to check the app features.

I first checked the Train timing Β and surprisingly, it showed me the exact timing of the train, the stations etc. and had the function of showing live status and the delay time. I was a bit surprised, but happy too that this App was looking good. I then checked the PNR status to check what my team had done and it showed the seat number and the seat confirmation status too. Now I was really happy looking at this. Since I had not had my dinner, I casually checked the Food in train through this app and was pleasantly surprised to see that it showed me various options to choose my food and that too of with the menu choice and the advance time I should order my food in. Now I was smiling broadly and knew that this App known as the RailYatri was definitely helping me a lot more than I had imagined.

I went on to travel safely on my first journey by Train in many years and I was surprised to see that my PNR status was confirmed, my seat was reserved and most importantly some good food came to my seat when I was hungry during travel. I had made up my mind to do so more Rail Yatra in future, but of course with the help of RailYatri and no one else..

  2. Sounds great.
This reminds me of that news story on Google Maps wanting to put up Indian railway schedules. Is that up yet? I’ve to look that up.
