KK’s love – Melbourne

KK got in his vehicle and started with a roaring pace towards the Airport. His ticket was secured by the agency and the last minute note which he had got from the Informer had all the details of Luca Brasi who apparently had holed up in Melbourne, Australia. As KK sped towards the airport, his mind was working on various theories. He was also thinking why his agency was helping him get even with Luca Brasi with whom his vendetta was personal and over the last 12 years he knew that the agency never supported personal grudges. So why this time? Was the agency up to something? Was there something in Melbourne other than Luca Brasi for him?

He shrugged off the thoughts and left the vehicle outside the airport with the keys on. Someone would come and collect it in less than 30 seconds after he had left. That’s how it used to be always. He cleared the security checks and sat in his chair waiting for the call to board the plane. He was thinking only about Luca Brasi right now as Melbourne was no new city to him. He had been there many times and the city had always welcomed him with open arms. He had many friends who would come over on a single phone call to meet KK. Such was his aura and grace, his charming Magnetic personality did the trick for him most of the times, not to forget that KK himself was a man would do anything to keep the words uttered by him. His friends over the whole shore of Port Phillip Bay knew that they could rely on this one man to save them from any trouble at the 11th hour. He had not just earned fame and name as the Top Agent of the Indian Government, he had earned friends..friends who were ready to do anything for him under the Sun.

KK loved to enter Melbourne in style like always and changed his clothes as soon as he got down from the flight and headed straight to the SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium with the 360 degree Oceanarium which houses giant sharks and stingrays. He met his contact there briefly over a cup of coffee. The contact was new to this field and was left open mouthed seeing the ease with which KK moved with style. After all, not all can match up the style of the capital of fashion. He picked up a sealed envelope from the contact person and left after leaving a message for his old friend from Melbourne who was a die hard Cricket fan like KK. There was an important match, incidentally the next day and KK did not want to miss that. So he had asked his friend to be present with the tickets to the witness a match in the 11th largest stadium in the southern hemisphere, which had seating & a standing capacity of 100,000+ and as usual one of the special 109 suites would be booked for KK to see the match. Most of the MCC knew KK as an ardent Cricket fan only and he loved to keep it that way.

His next stop was the Eureka Skydeck 88 where his next clue would be delivered to him about Luca Brasi. His informers had worked overtime to find out where exactly Luca was holed up and he had asked KK to meet him at the Eureka Skydeck. KK knew Skydeck 88 is the only observation deck in the world that can thrill you with ‘The Edge’ – a glass cube which projects 3 meters out from the building – with you in it – suspended almost 300 meters above the ground taking clues from your informer. He smiled at the excitement the Informers had at times and he considered himself nothing less than a Bond 007. He reached the Skydeck and met the informer. He had instructed him to come alone and the informer had dutifully obliged. He paid and attentive ears to the details which he got about Luca and came to know that Luca was flying out to Italy for a 3 day trip over the weekend. KK was waiting for this piece of information where he wanted to hunt down Luca and follow him to his own country Italy and then finish him off there so that none of his enemies would dare take another shot at KK over again. He was going to record the whole assassination and make an example out of it. When KK became ruthless no one would be able to match his brutality. For friends, he was like a Jack fruit, hard on the outside and soft inside with a lot of feelings and respect for his people who were ready to lay down life for him.

Having collected the information and knowing that he had a full 2 days to plan his trip to Italy, he headed straight to his hotel room. After a quick shower, he changed and wore lighter clothes. He was in the mood of a drive down the Great Ocean Road, one of the world’s most scenic coastal drives boasting of a breathtaking stretch of astonishing seascapes, magical forest and sprawling farmlands all along. He wanted to enjoy Melbourne like always and went off. He kept aside all his thoughts and enjoyed his ride to the Otway National Park and back. He was refreshed with the ride and went to his hotel to make some calls and fired a few mails. He had a light dinner and avoided drinking as he planned to get up early the next morning. He listened to some soft music and slept peacefully.

He got up early and took the 60 minute hot air balloon ride to start his day. He rushed to the MCG to watch his favorite game and spent a good 5 hours there. He never discussed his cases with his friends till he needed their help and by now all knew it. Even today they just relished on the classic 4’s and 6’s they saw in the match and headed for a late lunch. His friend had arranged the special Huxtaburger, Lamb Ribs and Clam and Prawn stew Ma PO style with Black bean sauce. KK realized that he was indeed hungry and hogged on the food. He bid farewell to his friend and thanked him for the Cricket he had seen at the famous MCG and left. He planned to visit the Ballarat Wildlife park and spend some time with the Boas and the koalas but changed his mind and went instead to the Ballarqat Goldfields’ to experience the gold fever. While doing so he was at peace of mind and relaxed. He had a smile on his face and he was enjoying his short break from work and that too at Melbourne which was one of his favorite places. He also visited the Healesville Sanctuary, which showcases over 200 species of Australian wildlife and felt rejuvenated by the experience. He headed back to his hotel after meeting his friends at Yarra Valley wineries. He had friends everywhere, including some old ones at Dominique Portet, Yering Station, Coldstream Hills, TarraWarra Estates and the Domaine Chandon. They all came to meet him and got him the best wine from their wineries. He thanked all of them and returned to his hotel. He sat with his drink tonight as this was his last day in Melbourne. He had wished to stay back and extend his lucky break cum vacation, which came accidentally his way and wondered if he would have seen the Shipwrecked! Which is a $5million sound and laser show, a complete theatrical experience magically bringing to true life the tale of the Loch Ard, wrecked in1878. He would have loved to do some motorcycle racing or some beach surfing, or maybe just watched the penguins parade at Philip islands, which is a 90 minutes drive from Melbourne. He would have seen the Grand Prix circuit which is a home to the Australian Moto GP and also would have relived his childhood at Panny’s Amazing world of chocolates creating and eating a chocolate bar.

He visualized a few years back when he had come on a vacation only trip to Melbourne and enjoyed all this over a nice 10 day trip. How he wished to relax again in Melbourne… but he had some unfinished work which was personal and now a matter of self esteem. No one could have dared to attack KK in broad daylight in India and Luca Brasi had just done that. He would have to pay a price for the same and this seemed the perfect time to do so. He had a flight to take the next morning so he let sleep take control over his eyes and dozed off.

  1. Hot air balloon it is for me. Experiencing the beauty of Melbourne from up there will be absolutely breathtaking.
People these days are so busy that they dont get time to spend with their family. I would love to spend some quality time with my husband . Watching the beauty from above, the vinaries, the lush green meadows, the beautiful ocean . One would just not like to leave this place once they experience the scenic beauty . For me two eyes wouldn’t be enough to admire the. Picturesque beauty from above.

  2. Wow, interesting story woven around Melbourne, Uttpal! Will like I wrote in my post, people like me would be spoilt for choices when they land in Melbourne. So picking just one place is one tough task for me, but guess if it’s just going to be one place, the romantic in me will win and select Loch Ard Gorge Beach!

I can sit there for hours romanticising about Tom and Eva escaping after the shipwreck!

  3. Haha, smartly woven story..
For the nature lover in me, I would love to visit Ballarat Wildlife park, and handfeed the Kangaroos, Koalas and wombats.. And am sure my little one would love watching them in the wild..

  4. I would like to visit the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) which is located in Yarra Park. Cricket has fancied me since childhood. I still remember those days when the elders in my neighbourhood used to start shouting and hunting for us the moment the cricket ball hit by me broke one of their window panes. Running away from them was even more exciting than playing cricket itself.

I used to follow every cricket match played by India religiously and used to analyse and discuss it with friends and siblings for days and months. Being such an enthusiastic fan of cricket, visiting one of the world’s largest cricket stadiums is one of my dreams.

The thought of being seated amongst 95,000 other fans of cricket and cheering the players itself sounds exciting to me. Such large cricket stadiums are one of the ways to explore how much the passion for cricket has penetrated among the people of the world. MCG is located in Yarra Park, which also has many other sporting fields. This would allow me to explore not just cricket, but also many other games.

  5. Great post! After reading your post & watching all the videos, I would definitely want to visit all those amazing places when I get to visit Melbourne 🙂 But of all, my top pick would be a visit to Yarra valley for a beautiful sunrise balloon flight. After seeing the video, I can’t stop myself from dreaming a romantic magical flight above the scenic vineyards and watching the sunrise from up above! Throw in my favorite wine, I will doubly enjoy the ride sipping my glass and taking sensational selfies all the way 🙂 Now I can’t think of a better way of spending a vacation!!

Next of course, cruising through the great ocean road in a open-top car to enjoy the coastal scenery and the iconic 12 apostles for the nature’s amazing work at play. Then a ride around the city in the vintage trams to enjoy its urban splendor and the legendary puffing billy to enjoy its natural splendor. Finally a day at the hot springs to unwind and totally rejuvenate myself 🙂

  6. Hi!
We know beauty never need words but without words it cannot be explained and when you get wordless after seeing it… your mouth still get open wide and WOW comes out. Dear! Your explanation about Melbourne is wonderful and picturesque description. I am a person who always attracted to nature first of any place so I would love to see the Melbourne Nature & Wildlife. The 12 Apostles rock formations is world famous rocks which changes its color in sunrise and sun set. And then I will see the Phillip Island Nature Park where I want to see the animals which I hardly see in India. I never saw Penguins, Koala and other animals.
Driving on a smooth road with natural beauty around you, it always gives you a feeling of heaven on Earth. I would love to drive on Great Ocean Road which is also famous in world to give you a scenic experience and the pleasure of that driving is amazing.

  7. Ah the love affair that is Melbourne!
I was privileged enough to visit this gastronomic city last year , but sadly a broken ankle had me restricted to a wheelchair and there are so many things that have been left undone on my Melbourne wish list. My heart aces cause I missed experiencing so many things.
    Here’s one of them:

We had started the drive on the great ocean road. Our first major pit stop was at the bells beach. They parked the car. Everyone hopped off. I dint want to slow them down. I parked myself on the bench close by. Close enough to feel the salt in the air but far enough to not feel the sand between my feet. I shed to tear that day. I really missed out. Saw my son build sand castles, I shed a tear for the fact that I couldn’t be down there sharing this moment with him. If given a chance id go back on the Great Ocean Road just to feel the sand between my feet.
    All over again.
    How I wish!

  8. I wanna see the Penguins in real and with so many lovely stories from Melbourne choosing one is tough but for me the first choice would be penguins parade at Philip islands.
