India On My Platter- Book Review

The 20,000 km food journey”  tagline itself will attract any foodie like me who can travel to Mars and beyond to try new food. So when The LImca book of record holder Chef Saransh Goila (Roti, Rasta or India- Show on Food Food Channel) writes about his food Trevelogue, I was keen on reviewing it. I realized the reason for the goodwill Saransh has in the Industry as soon as my copy came in a few days with a personal touch from the Chef.

Travelling for 100 days covering 20000 Kms and reaching most parts of India is not easy. It’s my dream someday to travel and write about the different foods and lost recipes of India, Saransh is the lucky one to have accomplished it by and large. Not only has he written about his travel experience in the book, he has written about the recipes and foods of various regions.

Chef Saransh had set off on a culinary trail meeting people from all walks of life, from deserts to mountains, cooking on makeshift stoves to boats and bamboo hollows, There is almost nothing which Saransh has not tried in his 100 day trip except a few parts of India which I am sure would have been due to time constraint. I liked his style of presenting both the show and the book which is very simple, direct, without too many phrase tricks and Jargons, which all readers can relate to. There are a few errors being the first book, and a few places one may feel that you are reading a blog post rather than a book, but at the same time it helps take a break and one need not read it start to finish (in order to not lose the continuity). The recipes are fantastic and being a self trained chef, I could learn a few new dishes too, while getting the pleasure of reading a good, simple and straight to reach the heart kind of book. I am sure this book will be appreciated by all who read it and especially if you are a Traveler, a foodie or a Food journey reader, I am sure you will like this book. Keep it up Chef Saransh. 🙂
