A1 Famous Dum Biryani – A honest Review.

A1 Famous Dum Biryani started some years back at the Hard Rock Building near Utsav Chowk and soon it pulled good crowd. It was a small joint which used to serve some very tasty Biryani and Tandoor items served out in the open space of the building. Eventually the Biryani became popular and soon they set up a proper restaurant. I am sure they must have named it A1 Famous Dum Biryani too, because that is why they are known for. We decided to go there some days back and give a try the famous Dum Biryani and also check the service. The joint welcomes you from 11.30am to 11.00pm.

Decor

The dcor is not so appealing as their main business is still takeaway parcels and there is plenty of activity in the kitchen for the Tandoor and Biryani items. There were a few customers sitting, but the problem of ventilation is felt when you sit there for some while and it is comfortable to sit only during winters and rains maybe. It was hot and stuffy inside.

Food

Since we had gone to try the famous A1 Dum Biryani, we ordered the same. The Biryani is served pretty fast as it is made twice in the daytime in a Large vessel. The quantity is good enough for the money they charge, but the taste is no longer the same.

The softness of the chicken was intact and it was well cooked but the Masala was burnt out a bit due to overcooking thus making the Biryani a bit harsh and bitter. We ordered some Pudina Kabab and Tangdi Kabab. They were succulent and well cooked. No wonder the crowd keeps coming back. The crowd still loves the Biryani and the Tandoor items and so the restaurant lives.

Plus and Minus

The Tandoor items are still good, and though they are not out of the world, people would love them as they are fresh and fast selling item across the counter. The parcel service is still good, efficient and fast. The staff is ample so the service is fast.

On the Minus side, the cleanliness has to be looked at more closely. They should know by now that they are not a Bhai Biryani Shop but a restaurant. The sitting arrangement has to be made pleasant and airy with plenty of brightness so that the customers feel special. They need to get back their lost charm of the Famous Dum Biryani they have always boasted of else the customers wont come back many times in the near future and look for other options. Some items on the menu card are not sold at all, please take them off.
