Growth of a child

Mrs Sharma was always concerned about the growth of a child. He was not gaining a good height despite both of them (Mr and Mrs Sharma) being tall. She often asked me about this and also told how soon her son used to get tired after school and often refused to go out and play with other kids. Being a food Nutritionist, I come across such parents who always complain about their child not gaining either the desired weight or height as per the average standards. I asked both the parents to come over to meet me at the community swimming pool that evening.

They came sharp at 5 pm when all the kids come to swim accompanied by their parents. We sat together watching the kids change into their swimsuits and jump in the pool excitedly. “They all seemed so charged up and fresh!” exclaimed Mrs Sharma. I kept quiet and allowed them to watch the kids for some more time. They all swam in quick succession and finished their rounds and ran to their moms to have a sip of the Energy Drinks they had got along with them. Almost 80% of them had a shaker bottle having Horlicks Growth along with them and it was evidently noted by Mr and Mrs Sharma. We sat for some more while quietly and I requested them to come home along with me. I stay just a block away from the pool so we walked it down. They both were quiet all the way as we reached home and once they were settled in their chairs, I looked at them and smiled. My wife got 2 glasses of Milk for them and they finished their respective glasses in a few minutes. As they kept their glasses down, I asked them, “Does Rohit drink milk the same way as you do?”. They nodded their head in the negative. When probed further they said he does not like the taste.

I explained to them that this is the basic problem of all children and they need some flavour in the regular milk in order to consume it. Also, they need whey protein, essential amino acids Arginine, Glutamic acid, Leucine and Lysine. Horlicks Growth+ not only adds these supplements to the child’s diet but also contains Calcium, Iron, Vitamin D, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Zinc, which are important to help children catch up on height and weight in only 6 months if added with Milk or water. It also provides Immuno-nutrients like Vitamins A, C and D, which are all known to support a healthy immune function. I also explained to them that it is not a meal replacement of any manner and is a Nutritional supplement. They seemed happy and satisfied with what I suggested them. I also told them not to feed Rohit a total of 96 gms of Horlicks Growth in a day spread over 2-3 or more servings) as he was a 7-year-old boy then.

They came back to me after a few months with beaming smiles to thank me for the advice I gave them on Rohit’s nutrition and were happy with the results. I am sure all parents using Horlicks Growth+ would be. 🙂
